Whistler Stop (A.K.A. Whistlestop) Campground was perhaps the best experience of a recent vacation through the scenic Rockies and interior to coastal British Columbia.

The man that owns and operates Whistlestop is extremely friendly and apparently very talented in the field of mathematics, because when we showed up he seemingly pulled a number out of thin air to charge us! To make matters simpler, we were never pestered for information such as name or address, and only cash was accepted! Firewood was priced very reasonably, at only about 7 dollars per bundle of wood. Seeing as wood seems to be in short supply around those parts, we hastily purchased 4 bundles and took them back home with us across the Alberta border! Hopefully the wood is not infested with any invasive species such as pine beetles!

This was the creepiest campsite we have ever stopped at. I can't really explain it in words, other than it had a 'horror movie' vibe. We tried to find someone to ask about using the sani-dump on our way through and it was like aliens rolled through and abducted everyone in the middle of things, except for one tent trailer that looked like it might be a permanent residence?

Very friendly . Nice sites lots with power or just for tenting. Good availability on long weekend's. Tourism BC sign on the hwy says closed, but not true. Just remember it is called Whistle stop for a reason. (Trains)

The campground itself was relatively empty (given we had arrived midweek) with only a very friendly German couple occupying an RV site, but that only created a very quiet atmosphere to enjoy and embrace the nature that surrounded us. Whistlestop is literally a stones throw from the highway (coincidentally that was a favourite passtime of our group while staying there, attempting to hit as many windshields as possible! Ha ha!), and the Canadian Pacific Railway also has tracks that run along the other side of the campground, so the soothing rumble of the trains and mighty bellow of the horn give a friendly reminder of the days of old.

The night was very peaceful, with only the noise of a distant train horn and the calm rumbling of overnight truckers applying their engine retarder brakes to enter the weigh station adjacent to Whistlestop.

If Hope and area is your destination and you have dogs or kids this is a great place. There is a large playground with many things, zipline Inc, lots of grass and trees. Yes there is road and rail noise but I feel like the convenience of location, greenery, privacy, and amenities over take the noise. Love the price, showers are free, nice and private, highway is noisy, but it's very convenient so.... And it is called whistlestop so I expect some train noise, but none that has bothered me at all!!!
